Over the years, the Dr. Hook Band has been awarded close to 50 Gold and Platinum records! George was born in Meridian, Mississippi - the son of an Alabama mountain man and a Louisiana Cajun mother. Growing up in a musical crossroads area, he absorbed the styles of white country music, black rhythm & blues, cajun swamp sounds and big band jazz.
Feeling artistically unfulfilled, George departed Dr. Hook to travel the long lonely songwriter's road to success. He moved to Nashville, TN, collaborating with some of the best writers & session players in town.
